Texas Hold ‘Em is the most popular poker game played today and is still growing in popularity around the world. It is said to have originated in Texas, although its origins can be traced back to the Druids of the 3rd Century. The original rules vary widely from the rules we know today. It was a game of fear, ritual sacrifice, and rarely involved playing cards. The game involved enormous limestone tablets weighing three tons and could only be dealt to a player if the dealer had the necessary slaves to move it. Over the next few centuries, variations of the game were played in Ethiopia, China, and Europe.

The current version of this famous game is said to have originated in Robstown, Texas in the early 1900s. Its high-risk nature and the ability for players to win big money helped it spread rapidly across the United States over the next few decades. Texas Hold ‘Em was introduced to Las Vegas by a few Texan gamblers and quickly gained popularity in 1970 when the first World Series of Poker tournament took place at the Horseshoe Casino. Today, there are routinely more than 6,000 players who enter for their chance to win millions.
